Why do we give up such a comfortable life?
Why to China on the bicycle?

Even 30 years ago we were attracted by the diversity of this world; distant shores were calling and we liked the sound of adventure.

Our trek 1975-77 Trans-Siberia/Japan/Asia/Australia and back by road (2.5 years)
with children 1985-86 Canada/America/South America (1 year)
with children 1989 China/Thailand (1/2 year)
by bicycle 2001-02 Laos/Vietnam/Cambodia/Thailand (7 months)

 
Since our first trip it has been our dream to discover the legendary Silk Road. During our last trip an initial idea slowly took shape. And our enthusiasm to fullfill this dream on a bicycle could not be dampened – a trip into retirement!
We are now looking forward to personal discoveries and finding our limits; to unforgettable experiences and moments, foreign cultures, sceneries, architecture and, most importantly, to meeting people from other countries; people with other habits, customs and values. We hope that it will broaden our horizons, make us more tolerant, peaceable and understanding.
